Welcome to our Parkerville Children and Youth Care website. Our comprehensive website will take you on a tour, in some parts interactive, of the history of our organisation; services we provide and their locations; facts about abuse of children and how we address this social issue; how people can help, whether as a volunteer or a donor, and an insight into our publications and events.

The facts surrounding child abuse in this country, some of which you will view in this website, are saddening, shocking, frustrating and the effects for the individual child catastrophic.

We believe we can make a difference and we do. The most powerful job in the world is taking care of young children.

The work we do goes beyond providing a safe environment for children; we are in the business of repairing the injuries inflected from abuse and in giving children futures. We not only want children to have a pleasant childhood, but we hope that, as a result of our care and therapeutic work, they will be able to have a better adulthood as well.

Child abuse is also not as visual as other debilitating children’s illnesses, but its effects are equally devastating for the child, their family and our society. It is therefore imperative, as advocates of children and young people, we create an awareness amongst the community of the issues surrounding abuse of children and implement long term preventative strategies.
