Child Sexual Abuse Therapeutic Services

Child Sexual Abuse Therapeutic Services (CSATS) is designed to offer services to help children and their families heal from the harmful psychological, emotional and social effects of child sexual abuse. Parkerville Children and Youth Care currently run two free CSATS services, one in Mirrabooka called Parents and Children’s Therapeutic Services (PACTS), the other in Northam, servicing the Wheatbelt area.

All CSATS clinicians are Psychologists with specialist training in providing services to children, youth and adults who have been affected by child sexual abuse.

Who can receive support and treatment from Parkerville’s CSATS:

  1. Children, young people, and adults who have experienced or been affected by child sexual abuse
  2. Children and youth under the age of 18 years who have been responsible for, or who are at risk of engaging in inappropriate sexualised behaviour

Treatment Strategies

Comprehensive assessments and individualised treatment plans are provided for each individual receiving support.

Interventions are targeted at improving:

  • Social Skills
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Trauma Symptoms
  • Sexualised Behaviours
  • Parenting Skills (where indicated)

Treatment strategies are evidence based where possible and include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Trauma Focused)
  • Relaxation Training
  • Narrative Work
  • Exposure Therapy
  • Behavioural Therapy
  • Psycho-education
  • Skills Training
  • Protective Behaviours
