Reconnect

Reconnect is a free and confidential Commonwealth Government Programme which aims to prevent young people from becoming homeless through providing support to young people and families.

Who is the service for?

Young People

  • Are you have trouble getting along with your parents / carers?
  • Are things so bad that your parents / carers might kick you out of home?
  • do you feel like you want to stay away from home all the time?
  • Have you already lfet home and want to go back but don't know how to?
  • would you like to improve your relationship with your family/
  • Have you stopped going to school?
  • Would you like assistance in gaining employment and training?

If you answered Yes to any of these questions, Parkerville Reconnect might be able to help.

Parents / Carers

  • Do you feel that you are losing your relationship with your young person?
  • Has your young person disengaged from education and / or taining?
  • Have you run out of tools in your toolbox for dealing with your young person's behaviour?
  • Has dealing with school and other agencies become difficult?
  • Do you feel alone and want to talk to someone who can be objective and understanding?

We also provide access to other programmes and initiatives within the community.

How can we help?

Reconnect can:

  • assist to improve family relationships through providing information, support, counselling and mediation;
  • can link young people with community networks and support services;
  • assist with school, work, and training programmes;
  • help with government departments (such as Centrelink);
  • help find suitable accommodation if necessary
  • visit young people and families in their homes, at school or anywhere as chosen by the young person and family.

Referrals can be made by the young person, family, schools, or any agency by phoning 9274 8440 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9-5pm. The staff can also be contacted by emailing reccyc@eftel.net.au . Clients will be contacted within 24 hours of initial contact.
