Parkerville Children and Youth Care has a strong commitment to reunifying children with their familles and always considers reunification as a planning option for a child or young person entering the programme.

Reunification of a child into their biological family is not seen as a single event but a process which is sensitive to the needs of the child, understands the experiences of the biological family and recognises the need to work together in a partnered approach with all to allow the best possible chance for reunification to occur.

Ranging from supporting the ongoing child parent / family relationship in out of home care to the full return to biological family, the programme provides flexible and innovative approaches to ensuring that reconnection and reunification can occur in a timely and planned way.

Our approaches range from the possibility of providing on site “live in” arrangements whereby parents and children can be together with 24 hour support from a professional team. to designated lead workers involved directly with children, their carers and families, working together to address concerns and issues in order for children and young people to safely return to family

Under this range of service provision we provide services including assessment; case and crisis management; counselling; parent effectiveness training; direct work with families; advocacy; conflict resolution; mediation and financial counselling.
